Work Stream 1: Strengthen understanding of health and its determinants PDF Print E-mail

Rationale

The best possible understanding of the determinants of Glasgow's health, how they are distributed across the city, and how Glasgow compares with other places, is needed to underpin all of the Centre's work and to inform discussions about how to achieve better health.

Aims

  • To establish an integrated public health observatory function for Glasgow that enables tracking of health determinants over time.
  • To develop enhanced understanding of the causes of Glasgow's poor health status, including analysis of the interactions between determinants.
  • To use the observatory function to raise awareness and enhanced understanding of the causes of, and potential solutions to, Glasgow's health profile.

Way of working

This programme is led by Prof Phil Hanlon and involves a team of specialists in public health information, monitoring and measurement from national and local organisations.
