Why was the Centre set up? PDF Print E-mail

The Centre was set up in response to Glasgow’s, and Scotland’s, record of poor health. Although the health of both Glasgow and Scotland have improved in recent years, Glasgow’s health lags behind the rest of Scotland and Scotland’s health is not improving at a comparable rate to other similar European countries.

In addition, the difference in life expectancy between the most affluent and deprived areas of Glasgow, has increased over the last decade. Therefore, the Centre was set up to inject some fresh thinking into how the health of Glasgow and Scotland can be improved.
