    'Prosperity without Growth'

    Tuesday 26 January 2010 was the date of the second lecture of the sixth GCPH Seminar Series. At this lecture Professor Tim Jackson, Professor of Sustainable Development at the University of Surrey and advisor to the UK government, spoke on 'Prosperity without Growth'.

    During his presentation, Prof Jackson argued that society faces a profound dilemma: economic growth is unsustainable, but 'de-growth' - or economic contraction - is also unstable.

    Tim Jackson is is Professor of Sustainable Development and Director of the Research group on Lifestyles, Values and Environment at the University of Surrey. His research interests focus on understanding the social, psychological and structural dimensions of sustainable living.
