New research initiative - Right Here, Right Now

28 January 2014

Right Here, Right Now is a new initiative, which aims to capture people’s daily experiences in Glasgow.

There is an urgent need to learn more about how trends and developments such as the Government’s welfare changes, a changing job market, rising living costs and reduced spending on services are affecting people.

Decision makers and people working in local areas are often frustrated about the time lag in having the latest research results to help them to do their job well. There is a need to ask ‘real time’ questions to help develop better ways of responding to quickly changing circumstances.

Who is running the initiative?

Four organisations have come together to explore the possibility of creating this new study: Glasgow Centre for Population Health (GCPH), NHS Health Scotland, University of Glasgow and the Glasgow School of Art (Institute of Design Innovation).

Involving the public

It is also important that the data we collect reflects and is shaped by public concerns. We aspire for the data collection to contain a high level of citizen engagement. To help us with this, we will be holding a series of workshops to help develop the approach, tools and method over the next few months. If you would like to be involved or find out more please email either Pete Seaman or Valerie McNeice.
