Poverty, disadvantage and the economy

The aim of this theme is to understand how economic change, poverty and disadvantage impact on population health and wellbeing throughout people's lives and to use this understanding to inform policy and service development.

The theme explores four key areas:

Family and child poverty - the wider context of child poverty and research into lone parent families.

Changing nature of poverty and employment - in-work poverty, payday lending and other ways in which the current financial climate affects health.

Action on poverty - we support initiatives which tackle and alleviate poverty, including Healthier Wealthier Children, Cost of the School Day and other partnership work.

Collaboration and influencing change - we continue to develop various ways to support collaboration with partners and to influence change.
