GCPH response - Glasgow's Climate Plan

Feb 2026

This response to Glasgow’s Climate Plan consultation highlights the important role that climate actions and policies can play in improving long‑term population health. Our submission responds directly to the survey questions posed by Glasgow City Council. In line with the current 2021 Plan, we argue that clearer and more explicit focus on improving population health and reducing inequalities is needed. This includes stronger emphasis on creating healthier places, developing more inclusive transport systems, ensuring fairer access to essential services such as food, and addressing the unequal health impacts of climate change.

By contributing to this consultation, GCPH aims to ensure that climate change continues to be recognised as an urgent threat to health, that ambitions for net‑zero are clearly articulated, and that proposed actions are grounded in robust evidence on what works to improve health and wellbeing for all.
