LGBT+ Health and Wellbeing in Scotland: A landmark census analysis

This landmark report presents the first national level analysis of LGBT+ health and wellbeing in Scotland, drawing on data from over 5.4 million people in the 2022 Census. It offers a population-wide insight into the lives, demographics and health outcomes of LGBT+ communities, highlighting both their growing presence and the persistent inequalities they face.

The findings of this report reveal stark disparities in mental health, disability and socioeconomic conditions, particularly for people identifying as trans and non-binary, alongside clear evidence of demographic differences in LGBT+ status among younger generations and racially minoritised communities. By making visible patterns that have long been underrepresented in public health data, the report provides a robust evidence base for action.
