Concept explainer: Right to food
Our Concept Explainer series explores the ‘Right to Food’. Food is vital for life and health. The right to food is a term that refers to the universal human right to regular, dignified access to adequate, safe, and culturally appropriate food, free from hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition. Achieving it requires enabling policies, systems and infrastructure.
Nourish Scotland has led a body of work to build understanding of what the right to food looks like in practice, as well as leading calls to enshrine the right to food in legislation in Scotland.
This animation from Nourish Scotland, working in partnership with the Scottish Human Rights Commission, looks at how we can make the right to food real for everyone in Scotland: Right to Food Animation
