As part of GCPH research on increases in breastfeeding rates in deprived areas, a literature review on breastfeeding has been completed.
This paper reviews measurement and definitions of breastfeeding, its benefits, maternal factors that influence likelihood to breastfeed, health serivce influences and effective interventions.
