Katharine is a Public Health Research Specialist working within the ‘action on inequality across the lifecourse’ theme. Her background is in geography and disaster management and her PhD research used archival policy sources to contribute to research on Glasgow’s excess mortality.

Current work includes projects on: the transition from homelessness into permanent housing; pathways between primary care and mental health; young people’s perception of climate change and how it affects their wellbeing; and developing how we measure poverty and deprivation.

Some of her previous work with the Centre focused on the Future of Social Protection and, in particular, the potential impact of a Universal Basic Income in Scotland.
